New Year New Start

2006 came and went and was one big blur for me. However, since I have some free time in my day - I'm going to jot down some of my favorite things from last year (Please note that the following may not have necessarily been released in 2006, but really just defined 2006 for me):
Top 5 CD's:
  • Corrine Baily Rae ~ Corrine Baily Rae
  • James Blunt ~ Back to Bedlam
  • John Mayer ~ Continuum
  • Death Cab for Cutie ~ Plans
  • Evanesence ~ The Open Door

Top 5 TV Shows:

  • The Office - The American version. Such a guilty pleasure for me! Funny, sarcastic, and who can't laugh at Dwight Schrute? Plus I hate to admit that I'm somewhat invested in the Jim-Pam unrequited love thing.......
  • 24 - Jack Bauer delivers again ..... this last season was a hard one to watch becuase so many of my favorite characters were killed off.... but I anxiously await the next installment in the series anyway.
  • Scrubs - Just a classic. Wonderful lovable characters and just hysterical.
  • Lost - I too have jumped on the Lost bandwagon..... it's just so intriguing, I can't stop watching!
  • CSI - Only the Las Vegas series though. Makes me want to be a forensic scientist.....

Top 5 Movies:

  • The Family Stone - Captures the craziness, fun and love involved in being a family, and becoming a part of a new family
  • In Her Shoes - A guilty pleasure movie really.....
  • Elizabethtown - Didn't like this movie at first. But as I watched it more and more, I began to really appreciate it.
  • Garden State - Perfect.
  • My Big Fat Greek Wedding - This helped me to continuously find the humor as Bryce and I planned our wedding!

Top 5 Books:

  • The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt - I went to Venice years ago but my curiosity about its history has never faded. This book focuses on the fire that ruined the Fenice opera house in 1996. It's suspenseful and beautifully written.
  • Devil in the White City by Erik Larson - My friend Ashley recommended this book to me and I really enjoyed it. It's written about Chicago in 1893 and revolves around the talented architect of the World Fair, and the serial killer who used the fair to find his victims. Another great book.
  • Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris - Just a hysterical, entertaining writer.
  • Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris - See above
  • The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - An unforgettable story about life in Afghanistan.
