Bryce and I are back and completely exhausted from our trip to St. Louis. Here's a quick recap.....
Thursday: We get to the airport at 4 am, check in, and board our plane to Seattle. At this point, we're a little sleepy but still in good spirits and excited to get to St. Louis. The little puddle jumper to Seattle is tight, but not bad for a 45 minute trip. The trip from Seattle to St Louis was a bit more interesting........ They boarded all the passengers and everything seemed to be fine. But after about a half hour the pilot announced that there is a part of the plane that is not painted the correct color, which is against regulation. We were all stuck sitting on the plane for an hour, waiting as they painted the correct color on. After a late start, we then arrived in Chicago's O'Hare airport. There was a lot of construction going on, and eventually Bryce and I found where to pick up our rental car (complete with GPS). We then hit the road, still hoping to get into St. Louis at a decent hour.
However, as we started our journey, we realized that there was a lot of traffic on the freeway. We soon heard on the radio that a big chunk of I-55 (the big highway that runs between Chicago and St. Louis) was shut down because a warehouse caught on fire and there was no visibility whatsoever! So Bryce and I were stuck sitting on the freeway for about 2 hours. We finally arrived in Chicago around midnight and were completely exhausted!
Friday: After getting a good night's sleep, Bryce and I headed out to check out the City of St. Louis and we had a great time. Here are some pics of what we did during the day.......
Here we are checking out the city and hating the humidity......
Bryce and I are up in the Arch looking down upon the city.......
I'm 630 feet in the air!!!!
Here I am on a paddleboat on the Mississippi.....
Making silly faces on the paddle boat......
After checking out the Arch and going on a paddleboat tour, Bryce and I had lunch in the more "urban" district of downtown St. Louis. We then went to Britton and Molly's rehearsal and dinner and had a wonderful time meeting their friends from college and exchanging stories.
Saturday: Bryce and I checked out of our hotel at 11 am and had some time to kill before Britton and Molly's wedding, so we decided to go on the Anheiser Busch tour. The facility is amazing! It looked very much like a college campus! Plus, as great lovers of beer - it was interesting for us to learn how much beer (and business) Budweiser actually goes through!
The Budweiser horses - aren't they cute?

After the Budweiser tour we headed off for Britton and Molly's wedding. It was held in a beautiful church in a rougher area of St. Louis. They had a traditional Catholic wedding so poor Bryce was stuck standing in his tux, in a hot church, for over an hour. But Molly looked beautiful and Britton was so excited to be marrying her. There were a lot of people and many had travelled from 21 different states! The reception was a lot of fun and I got to meet Bryce's friends from high school and grade school. We got to dance to some fun 80's music and dinner was very yummy!
After the reception (around 11:30 pm), Bryce and I left in our trusty rental car and headed off for Chicago and began our journey home. All in all that final day was quite jam packed. In the span of 24 hours Bryce and I did the following:
- Went on a tour of Anheiser Busch
- Attended a wedding and reception
- Slept for a total of 3 hours
- Travelled through 4 different states (Missouri, Illinois, Washington, Oregon)
- Took 4 different types of transportation (car, plane, light rail, and bus)
- Learned the beauty of XM radio
All in all - one successful trip for the Majors! :) Congrats to Britton and Molly!!!!!
