These are a few of my favorite things.....

I'm compiling a nice long list of all my favorite things for the summer of 2007 (so far). So here they are.........

Small Joys for me:

  • Anything and everything green (both the color and people becoming environmentally conscious

  • Elephants - huge, clumsy, awkward, lovable

  • The sense of accomplishment after a run (or after successfully treading water for more than a minute)

  • Hiking around waterfalls and/or mountains

  • Exploring - I like to explore. I like to explore the great outdoors, the city, new people, new music, cultures other than my own, and most of all I like exploring this planet

  • Watching the Discovery Channel with my husband - in particular we are hooked on Man vs. Wild. The show follows Bear, a former British Special Forces agent and he will get dropped off by helicopter somewhere in the wild (a Forest, the Australian outback, a desert, on a glacier, etc). Bear then has to find his way out and back to civilization with only a flint, a knife, and a small waterbottle. He's amazing! I spend so much time learning all the techniques - just in case in the very small, remote chance I too would end up somewhere in the wilderness. In addition, Bear teaches his audience a variety of lessons such as: How to build a bow and arrow using only tree branches, how to escape quicksand, and what to do when you can't find a source of water anywhere. Fascinating.......

  • Pumpkin Flax Seed Granola from New Seasons - So yummy mixed with organic vanilla yogurt, strawberries, blueberries and bananas!

  • White Chocolate Americanos

  • Talking about books with Ashley's dad

  • Anxiously awaiting the next movie/tv show from Netflix

  • Organizing - I get such a sick thrill out of cleaning and organizing. I'm not sure who I developed this from because neither my mom or my dad every displayed as much excitement as I do at the thought of cleaning

  • Peanut butter

  • Reading US Weekly from cover to cover - I should be ashamed of myself, but I'm not

  • A nice long phone conversation with friends that live far away

Music that is making my summer even more enjoyable:

  • Dar Williams

  • Brett Dennen

  • Dear and the Headlights

  • Feist

  • Gary Jules

  • The Paperboys

  • Any of the music Putomayo puts out - African Groove, Latin Salsa, French Wine Country, it's all a delight!

  • The soundtrack to Amelie
