Remember to Breathe......

I have these moments in life when I'm suddenly struck and almost completely overwhelmed by the realization of what truly matters to me. I'm overwhelmed right now. Could quite possibly be the biggest understatement I have ever made but now it's out there. I'm overwhelmed. I've lost my mom, am continuously hitting the ground running as I learn my new job day by day, and am continuously trying to celebrate the friendship and people I have in my life - whether its happy hour or a wedding. So now I'm trying to take the time for me.

I feel like for such a huge part of my life it's been about moving, getting to the next step, working towards the next chapter in my life. But now I would really much prefer to slow time down. Stop moving. I admit that I am a huge to-do-list freak. I'm continuously surrounded by the items I need to accomplish by a set date. Here is just a brief glimpse into the overall to-do-list of my life (pulled out of my planner):

- Make dish for Venessa's wedding reception this Sunday
- Finalize details for Junior Orientation on Monday (breakfast order, packets, deficit list, easels, table and chair configuration, AV needs, etc)
- Finalize Freshmen schedules (yup - that's for all 146 incoming freshmen)
- Compile list of advisors for Saturday
- Talking points for when I meet with the transfer students on Saturday
- Talk to Sallie about carpooling to happy hour after Orientation on Saturday :)
- Pick up gift for Chrissy's birthday
- Clean the house - Bryce's dad visiting this weekend
- Set aside books for Chrissy and Venessa for when I see them on Sunday
- Find the time to breathe

Honestly, that last point is in my planner. :) And I think it's an important reminder to myself to continue to breathe each day. Lately it seems like I'm simply drowning, so I need that constant reminder to relax and allow myself to float to the top.

So here are the three things allowing to breathe a little bit easier each day........

1) My friends and my husband - they make the stresses of life seem like nothing when we are all laughing together

2) Running - I go every day during the week now. Running allows me to feel free and strong and alive.

3) A glass of Ravenswood Zinfandel and dark chocolate at the end of the day makes everything better.
