Confessions from St. John's

1) Over the weekend Bryce and I went out to Karl and Noelle’s new cabin in Washington. It was absolutely gorgeous and the fall leaves were amazing. We went for a nice hike and did some star gazing. But most of all we played some really fun games – the highlight of which is a game called Rummikub. I was an only child growing up so I never had much exposure to games. However, they are becoming more and more fun as I play them with good friends. Rummikub is absolutely addictive. On our way home I made Bryce stop by Target so that we could pick it up. My name is Elisa and I’m 100% addicted to Rummikub.

2) Bryce and I had our old housemate Zach over for dinner and he was showing off his brand new iPhone. They are pretty neat and now I really want one. It’s amazing how phones have transformed from huge ones with the antennae to small, sleek ones that allow you to access the internet and take pictures of all your really cool friends.

3) My best friend Ashley introduced me to the world of “live food”. Basically this is food that is all soy, all natural, and all kinds of crazy. However, I was surprised to find that I actually really liked it. And the live fudge? Oh so delicious…….

4) We’ve been going to a lot of UP women’s soccer games. They are now on a 13 game winning streak. The amount of school pride I have at times borders on obnoxious. My husband and I truly bleed purple - right down to our matching UP sweatpants and hoodies……

5) This whole election is incredibly interesting and people are getting so incredibly worked up and passionate about it which is wonderful to see. What is driving me crazy are not the McCain/Palin supporters, but the people that are not going to vote. I know several people that don’t believe their one vote will count and that truly frustrates me. One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Ghandi – Be the change you wish to see in the world. I wish more people would adopt this philosophy and believe that they can be a part of the change.

6) I didn’t think it was possible but my addiction to highlighters has grown. Seriously – every color has a meaning. In addition – fine tipped Sharpies are quickly moving up the ladder as one of the best creations in the world……..

7) My most brilliant Halloween costume idea at this point is to dress up like Angelina Jolie. Wear a bunch of black, slap on a bunch of fake tattoos, steal at least 6 simulation babies from the lab at work and carry them around the whole night.
